Description
While most people know the benefits of upgrading a vehicle's suspension with polyurethane components, the cab and body Mounts are often overlooked. Factory mounts are constructed of rubber that breaks down over time and exposure to the elements. As they break down, they become less effective at isolating the cab from chassis noise and vibration. In extreme circumstances, worn body mounts can cause the body to shift on the frame and increase body roll. Numerous problems with components that attach to both the body and the chassis, such as mechanical shift linkage, are also indicators of worn body mounts. Daystar Body Mounts are resistant to vehicle fluids and road grime. They outlast factory body mounts and provide more positive attachment to the frame. 2003 Sport trac with severely worn out bushings.You will need this kit and....Floor jackLandscape timber or large 6 foot piece of wood15mm socket18mm deep well socket and extension bar1/2" drive ratchetLarge channel lock pliersTorch to heat up bolts to free up thread lockWorking one side at a time. Pull back carpet to expose rubber hole plugs, remove to expose bolt head. Now I heated up the bolt under the truck for approx. 1 min and then attempted to remove the bolt. This worked out well for me, my bolts and nuts were not rusty or corroded. This bolt is about 6 inches long so it takes a while to remove. The bottom plate that holds the bushing on to the frame is connected to the top so there is no need to hold it while unscrewing the bolt. There are three of these and one up front by the radiator.Since I have running boards on the truck I placed the landscape timber under the running board and SLOWLY lifted the body away from the frame. It took me a few times of jacking and looking and jacking and looking but you are able to get the height needed to remove and replace the bushings. Remove the old ones one at a time and replace with the new ones.Excellent kit put out by DAYSTAR, instructions were easy to follow, bushings labeled for easy ID, went together fast and simple. 4 hours total time for me, yours may vary.The truck now drives and feels like its brand new. No more body roll and nose dive, no more squeaks or groans. I wish I could give them 10 stars but five is all I can do.VERY SATISFIED customer.
